Tranmere 0-4 Liverpool: Instant reaction and player ratings

Liverpool began their pre-season campaign with a convincing 4-0 win against Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park on Wednesday night.

Goals from James Milner, Marko Grujic, Pedro Chirivella and Ben Woodburn secured the win for the Reds who looked sharp in their first of eight outings before the Premier League season kicks off.

The below video features instant reaction as the goals went in, and goes through the player ratings for both halves as ten changes were made at half-time.

Jurgen Klopp’s side broke the deadlock on 34 minutes through Milner’s penalty after Sheyi Ojo did well to win the spot-kick.

The lead was doubled before the break when Grujic struck from distance low beyond the goalkeeper’s dive to his left.

Within five minutes of the restart, Chirivella made it three. The Spaniard followed up after Dominic Solanke, making his first Liverpool appearance, had his shot saved.

Woodburn won and scored the Reds’ second penalty of the game and rounded off a solid night’s work for the Merseysiders.

Next up for the Reds is a trip to Wigan Athletic on Friday night, by which time Mohamed Salah could be available.
