# Four Findings: Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

In the most crucial match of the season, Liverpool found a way to rebound from a month long slide as well as a gifted goal to their league leading opponents. Liverpool rallied to equalize and draw with Chelsea 1-1 at Anfield.

Given the slump the Reds have experienced since the turn of the year, avoiding a defeat can almost be considered a victory.

Unfortunately, it did not close the sizable gap between Liverpool and the top of the table but neither did it widen. Any chance of still charging for a title challenge may still be substantially dented. Yet, a fourth successive defeat at home could have had even greater devastating confidence.

This was a match filled with the kind of intensity that Liverpool has lacked of late. The attack still suffered from an absence of cutting edge. Roberto Firmino, in particular, spurned two gilt-edged opportunities but his teammates struggled too.

More important than anything, after the punishing free-kick debacle that gave Chelsea the lead, Liverpool responded and refused to fall. They battled the Blues and forced mistakes. Most of this match was played at pace in the middle of the pitch where neither team found any easy chances.

Intense and exciting but far from a great performance, Liverpool can take this point and use it to rebuild the form that saw them rise to the most exciting side in the league.

Here are four findings from the match.
