# Four Findings: Newcastle United 1-1 Liverpool

Liverpool have yet to fully shake off their sputtering form. Heading into an international break, the Reds visited Newcastle and disappointingly drew 1-1 at St James’ Park.

Liverpool are caught in a repetitive loop that seems only to perpetuate the same set of problems. Frustration abounds at both ends of the pitch.

In attack, the Reds had more than enough chances to put the match to bed but instead only managed a single goal from outside the area. In defence. the centre-halves were victimised once again and conceded a goal from the simplest of tactics. The repetition suggests that some problems may be turning into habits.

Any talk of Liverpool’s lack of luck has now become foolish. Teams make their own luck and the Reds are making none. While Joel Matip’s last ditch tackle caromed the ball off Joselu’s shin and into the goal for the equaliser, it was the result of lack of awareness and poor positioning. It was Newcastle’s only true chance and they took it.

Perhaps the break will do the squad some good.

The club’s form since the last break no doubt suggests a change might be a good thing. The coaching staff no doubt has some work to do to keep this season from being the chase that is already sizing up to be.

Here are four findings from the match:
