# Four Findings: Sevilla 3-3 Liverpool

Some draws feel like wins and others feel like losses. Liverpool’s trip to Spain seemed a lot more like the latter, despite drawing to a team that has not lost at home in 25 matches. In the most difficult European group fixture, the Reds gave away a three goal lead to finish 3-3 against Sevilla.

This was a Champions League collapse that was as avoidable as it was aggravating. In just over a half an hour, Liverpool had shown the form that had summarily dismissed opponents in a current run of form that cultivated newfound confidence. Then came halftime.

It is fair to say that Sevilla has proven to be a bit of a European bogey team for the Reds. Just 18 months ago, the Reds failed to finish off the Andalusian club, faltering in the second half. This might not have been as devastating but it sure spoiled what should have been a celebration of advancement to the knock-out stage.

If anything, this match confirmed much of what is already known about the Reds. They remain the unfinished article, unable to reconcile both ends of the pitch with cogent command or consistency. What’s more there are elements that cannot be fixed without personnel changes. This was an immature performance by a squad that is still finding its way.

Here are four findings from the match.
