# Liverpool player ratings: Manchester City (H)

Liverpool secured a famous home victory against Manchester City in the Champions League this evening as they defeated the Premier League champions-in-waiting 3-0.

The Reds take a big advantage into the second leg at the Etihad Stadium as they bid to progress through to the semi-finals of the illustrious competition.

It was a dominant display from Liverpool in the first-half and their early flurry of goals proved to be enough to see off Pep Guardiola’s side eventually.

Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool an early lead after Kyle Walker failed to clear his lines, helping the Egyptian to hit the net for the 38th time this season. The Reds doubled their advantage through a thunderous effort from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain soon after.

Sadio Mane then clinched the third and potentially vital goal for Liverpool as he nodded beyond Ederson after a sublime cross from Salah on the right.

Despite City’s dominant second-half showing, Liverpool took their share of the spoils at Anfield on another famous European night.

Here are our player ratings for the Reds.
