# Who was Liverpool’s best player against Chelsea?

It was an unqualified team effort. Liverpool’s swirling chaotic attack overwhelmed Chelsea, penning them in their own end for almost the entire first half and making it count, heading into the half two goals to the good.

The Reds would be without Roberto Firmino’s scintillating run of form sure to a minor muscle injury. So Philippe Coutinho would retake his normal place on the left with Sadio Mane and Daniel Sturridge up front. The slight adjustment to the setup proved more than adequate.

Dejan Lovren also returned to partner with Joel Matip at centre-half, even chipping in with a well-struck set-piece goal. Even Simon Mignolet was forced into some mild action in a game saw the home side try to scrap their way back into it.

The engine room of Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum, and Adam Lallana in midfield with support from Nathaniel Clyne and James Milner down the flanks all combined to summon the industry and guile to hold Chelsea off at Stamford Bridge for an important win.
