# Match Gallery: Liverpool 4-1 Leicester City

Away from the celebrations surrounding the opening of the new Main Stand, Liverpool confidently dealt with the reigning champions Leicester City on the Anfield turf.

With star-man Philippe Coutinho on the bench after an arduous international break, a front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mané, and Daniel Sturridge linked up time and time again to great results.

Firmino’s first goal brought back memories of strikers gone by as he glided past Robert Huth before finishing low.

Sturridge and Mané then combined to give the new signing his first Anfield goal; 2-0 to Liverpool.

A defensive lapse from emergency central defender Lucas gifted Jamie Vardy a goal as Liverpool still appeared occasionally unconvinced at the back.

In the second half, Liverpool struck again. Gini Wijnaldum burst into the box and found Adam Lallana who finished brilliantly. A great week for the attacking midfielder following his England goal against Slovakia.

With time ticking down, an over-ambitious charge from Kasper Schmeichel saw Mané run clear, finding Firmino to put the icing on a historic Liverpool afternoon.
