# After 90: Jurgen Klopp enjoys ATP Mallorca alongside former target

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/20/fabrizio-romano-claims-kostas-tsimikas-can-leave-this-summer/) manager [Jurgen Klopp](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/18/virals-liverpool-reportedly-intensifying-interest-in-adam-hlozek/) has been pictured enjoying the off-season in Spain alongside a former transfer target.

The Reds boss has been relaxing since guiding the side to what seemed at one point an unlikely [third-place](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) finish in the Premier League.

Despite the ongoing festival of football at Euro 2020, the German opted to take in a different competitive ball sport when attending the [ATP Mallorca](https://www.flashscore.co.uk/tennis/atp-singles/mallorca/) tennis tournament.

Klopp can be [seen taking in the action](https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldTalk/status/1406258997129355269) whilst 2016 [target](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/23/liverpool-mario-gotze-bayern-munich-future) and then Bayern Munich ace Mario Gotze sits ahead.

The 29-year-old attacking midfielder, now as PSV Eindhoven, played under the Anfield man at Borussia Dortmund and Klopp has previously [hailed](https://www.football365.com/news/klopp-names-unbelievable-player-as-best-he-has-coached) the ‘unbelievable’ ace as the best player he had worked with.

Despite earning [63 caps](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mario-gotze/nationalmannschaft/spieler/74842/verein_id/3262) for Germany, Gotze isn’t part of the national team for the ongoing European Championships.

In 2020/21, the versatile midfielder [scored six and assisted seven other goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mario-gotze/leistungsdaten/spieler/74842) in 25 appearances in all competitions.

Although the 2016 Kopite in many Reds may see this image as a sign the German is heading to Anfield to join ex-teammate Thiago in a summer move, it seems unlikely at this time.

That said, never say never.

Valued at £10.8million and under contract until 2022 in Holland ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mario-gotze/marktwertverlauf/spieler/74842)), the [2014 World Cup final hero](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2128330-mario-gotze-scores-incredible-extra-time-goal-for-germany-in-world-cup-final) would represent a viable option – perhaps to replace Xherdan Shaqiri in the squad.

There is of course the possibility Klopp was simply catching up with a friend – whilst perhaps obtaining inside information on [current target](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1452409/Liverpool-transfer-news-Donyell-Malen-Florian-Neuhaus-gossip-latest-update) and PSV ace Donyell Malen.
