# After 90: Loris Karius shows off physique weeks before Liverpool return

Much maligned [Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/05/10/virals-liverpool-believed-to-admire-patrick-bamford/) goalkeeper [Loris Karius](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/03/06/loris-karius-linked-with-surprise-move-to-bayern-munich/) has spent the entire 2020/21 campaign playing in Germany for Union Berlin.

Having received plenty of criticism following what was an [all too forgettable showing](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2779382-report-loris-karius-received-scan-for-potential-head-trauma-after-ucl-final) in the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid, the German stopper has been sent out on loan ever since.

This current spell follows a [bizarre stint](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52495326) with Turkish club Besiktas – ending on unamicable terms.

Karius has played just[four times in the Bundesliga](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/loris-karius/leistungsdaten/spieler/85864) this season for Berlin, who currently sit [eighth in the table](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/table) and remain within an outside shot of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

On the face of things, the one time [German Under 21 international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/loris-karius/nationalmannschaft/spieler/85864/verein_id/3817) certainly looks ready to make a go of things at Liverpool once again.

But, having endured [two difficult loan spells](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/loris-karius/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/85864) away from the club, it seems highly unlikely Jurgen Klopp will see a place in the squad for Karius.

[Under contract until 2022](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/karius-last-year-contract-away-from-liverpool-extended-stay/nuyo9utt0igs1kdhx54ha1bv5), the Reds will surely be looking to take the last opportunity to cash in with a permanent sale this summer.

Back at Anfield, it seems Caoimhín Kelleher will be the chosen understudy to Alisson Becker moving forwards.
