# Agent confirms Liverpool approach for Francisco Ferreira

Liverpool have been strongly linked with making defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window, especially at centre-back as Jurgen Klopp has seemingly began to lose faith in Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan.

Adding another defender will be made a priority and [reports suggest](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-keen-sign-20-year-old-defender-agent-confirms-approach-club/) that the Reds have made an approach to bring one to Anfield.

Ulisses Santos, the agent of highly-rated Benfica centre-back Francisco Ferreira, has told [A Bola](https://www.abola.pt/Clubes/Noticias/Ver/702682/40) that Liverpool are one of a number of clubs to have made an approach to sign his client.

> *I can’t deny that Liverpool was one of the clubs that approached me and, as well, Benfica, Ferro and myself, we understand it’s not to be the moment.*

The 20-year-old centre-back has impressed for the Benfica B side in recent times and Liverpool have been tracking him for over a year, with Klopp a big fan of the youngster.

Santos understands that while interest in his client is great, Benfica are reluctant to offload one of their brightest young prospects and a sale in January is unlikely.
