# Alan Hutton praises ‘brilliant’ Diogo Jota development since joining Liverpool

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/12/02/alan-hutton-labels-liverpool-midfielder-thiago-out-of-this-world/) have developed a penchant for turning seemingly also-rans into world-class stars in recent seasons.

All of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho arrived as relative unknowns on the world stage before [conquering](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/025a-0e9f8fe852b8-ff94b0553a0e-1000--club-world-cup-firmino-wins-final-for-liverpool/) it under Jurgen Klopp.

One man who looks to be [on the right path](https://www.sofascore.com/player/diogo-jota/606164) to doing just that is Portuguese forward [Diogo Jota](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/11/30/danny-murphy-full-of-praise-for-brilliant-liverpool-star-diogo-jota/).

Arriving somewhat under the radar when the 24-year-old signed from Wolves for £41million in the summer of 2020 ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54214671)), the ex-FC Porto man has been nothing short of a revelation as a Red.

However, following a superb first year on Merseyside and a [stunning derby goal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJP9Ba8J7ew) at Goodison Park, Jota has already repaid that price tag multiple times over.

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/pundit-amazed-by-brilliant-jota-transformation-at-liverpool-after-playing-against-him-at-wolves/), former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton – who [faced the ace](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41534035) during his playing days – has been lauding Jota’s superb form.

> He’s a brilliant footballer. Obviously, I played against him at Wolves and you could see it. But he’s actually taken his game to the next level moving to Liverpool. There were probably a couple of eyebrows raised when he did move but he’s taken on the challenge. Klopp’s made him a better player and he’s lightened the load for Salah, Firmino, Mane. He’s taken a little bit of pressure off them with his contribution. He’s been in excellent form, as have Liverpool in general.

So far this season the [22-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diogo-jota/nationalmannschaft/spieler/340950/verein_id/3300) star has [scored nine times and provided two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diogo-jota/leistungsdaten/spieler/340950) in 17 appearances across all competitions for Klopp’s side.

Absolutely wonderful yet again.

Signed seemingly as a player to rotate in and out with the front three, Jota is stamping his authority on a prolonged run in the first-team even when [Roberto Firmino returns](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/klopps-injury-update-gomez-keita-jones-and-firmino) to fitness.

Already boasting [93 career goals and 45 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diogo-jota/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/340950) in 267 professional outings, Kopites can be confident the best is yet to come at Anfield for the [£40.5million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diogo-jota/marktwertverlauf/spieler/340950) livewire.
