# Alberto Moreno set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer

Alberto Moreno looks set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer as contract talks between the player and the club have stalled, as per [Neil Jones of Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/alberto-moreno-set-to-leave-liverpool-on-a-free-transfer/1wg7w7k5r0s401fxeoqpsf3b2w).

Despite Moreno falling behind Andy Roberston in the pecking order at Anfield, Liverpool were willing to extend Moreno’s deal to keep him as a squad player, but it seems that the two parties could not agree terms.

As such, Moreno will leave the club for free next summer after spending four years with Liverpool.

The Spaniard will become the second player signed by the Reds in 2014 to leave for free after Emre Can left to join Juventus earlier this year.

Moreno was highly thought of at Sevilla and there was a lot of excitement when he joined the Reds.  However, he has had a very up and down career at Liverpool, including a horror show performance against his former club in the Europa League final.

As per Neil Jones’ report, youngster Adam Lewis will be given the chance to establish himself as the club’s deputy to Robertson. Lewis has apparently impressed Jurgen Klopp and his staff at Melwood after he was called up to train with the first-team.
