# Alexander-Arnold ruled out of West Ham clash

Trent Alexander-Arnold will not be involved against West Ham on Monday night, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

Speaking at his weekly pre-match press conference, [as reported by Paul Joyce](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce/status/1091328154382356481?s=19), Klopp confirmed that the defender has not yet recovered in time for the game.

[As reported by the club’s official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/336402-trent-alexander-arnold-injury-update), Klopp also added that the defender will return to training next week as he steps up his recovery.

There had been some hope that the defender would be back by this point, but that does not appear to be the case.

The defender has been struggling with an injury since the game against Brighton.

He sustained a knee injury during the warm-up of the game, but continued to play through the match but has since suffered as a result.

The defender’s return will be a huge boost to Liverpool, with Klopp forced into using both James Milner and Jordan Henderson as makeshift right-backs in his absence.
