# Arsenal fear losing Saka if they don’t qualify for Europe

Arsenal are worried that Bukayo Saka could leave the club if they fail to qualify for a European competition next season, according to *the [Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/arsenal-racing-to-sign-bukayo-saka-to-long-term-deal-jfz82xrlz?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1582148954)*.

The Gunners currently sit [10th in the Premier League](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table), six points adrift of the Europa League spot occupied by rivals Tottenham and five points behind sixth-placed Sheffield United, a position which would see them qualify for Europe if Man City’s ban is upheld.

Saka has been [linked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/19/saka-remains-coy-about-potential-move-amid-liverpool-interest/) with joining Liverpool, with the youngster having just 18 months remaining on his current Arsenal deal.

The north Londoners are trying to tie him down to a new contract, but the player is still [reportdly](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/arsenal-racing-to-sign-bukayo-saka-to-long-term-deal-jfz82xrlz?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1582148954) weighing up his options.

Liverpool should do their best to swoop in and sign Saka, especially if European qualification isn’t achieved by Arsenal. At 18, he has huge potential, but he has also delivered this season, [finding the net three times and also chipping in with six assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/367185/Show/Bukayo-Saka).

Capable of playing on both the left wing and at left-back, Saka could provide much-needed cover for Andy Robertson, assuming Jurgen Klopp sees him as being strong enough defensively.

Saka’s statistics suggest he is capable in that area, with the Englishman averaging [1.9 tackles per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/367185/Show/Bukayo-Saka) in the league this season – more than Robertson ([1.7](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/115726/Show/Andrew-Robertson)).
