# Arsenal terminate Shkodran Mustafi’s contract as Ozan Kabak move edges closer

Liverpool’s move for Ozan Kabak has seemingly edged closer, with journalist Fabrizio Romano [confirming](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1356256802367807489?s=20) that Arsenal have terminated Shkodran Mustafi’s contract.

The German looks almost certain to be a direct replacement for Kabak at Schalke, with the 20-year-old heading to Anfield later on Monday.

Romano states that the deal has reached its ‘last steps’, indicating that the centre-back will be a Liverpool player come the end of the day.

A lot appears to have hinged on Mustafi’s future, but now that has been sorted, the Reds should be able to complete a deal.
