# Barcelona enter race for Liverpool target Brandt

Liverpool continue to struggle without Sadio Mane in the starting eleven despite the summer additions of Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Jurgen Klopp seems to still have his eyes on another winger.

Throughout the summer, Liverpool were repeatedly linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt who is a personal favourite of Klopp’s but they are set to face some increased competition for his signature.

According to [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/), Barcelona are considering making a move for Brandt in the January transfer window as their efforts to sign Philippe Coutinho continue to be rebuffed.

Barcelona saw multiple bids rejected for Coutinho in the summer and are preparing contingency plans with Brandt, as well as Schalke attacking midfielder Max Meyer, on their shortlist of alternatives.

Brandt is understood to have rejected offers to leave Leverkusen in the summer as reports suggest [he is primed for a move to Bayern Munich](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2017/06/23/liverpool-target-julian-brandt-set-bayern-move-2018/) next summer.
