# Bayern’s Muller to miss both Liverpool games

Liverpool have been handed a boost ahead of their Champions League meeting with Bayern Munich.

[Sky Sports have confirmed](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11890/11604366/thomas-muller-banned-for-liverpool-champions-league-games) that Thomas Muller will miss both games after being handed a two-match suspension.

Muller was shown a straight red card during Bayern’s game with Ajax for a high challenge on Argentinian defender Nicolas Tagliafico.

As one of Bayern’s most senior players, the news comes as a big boost to Liverpool.

The Reds will be hopeful about their chances of progressing, with Bayern stuttering domestically this season.

For the first time since the 2011-12 campaign, Borussia Dortmund look likely to snatch the Bundesliga title away from Bayern, ending their dominance in Germany.

Bayern have been inconsistent during Niko Kovac’s time in charge of the club and Liverpool will be looking to take advantage.

The first round of games in the Champions League knockout stages are scheduled for the middle of February, with Liverpool welcoming Bayern to Anfield in the first of two legs.
