# Ben Woodburn limps out of U23 game

Forward Ben Woodburn limped out of Liverpool U23s game with Manchester United U23s on Friday night and headed straight down the tunnel.

Woodburn, who holds the honour of being Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer, limped out of the game with just minutes left on the clock as Liverpool U23s lost 2-1 at Anfield.

The Welsh international was unlikely to be in the match day squad for Saturday’s first team game against United but he was pencilled in to play for Steven Gerrard’s U19s team in their UEFA Youth League quarter-final against Manchester City next Wednesday.

Jurgen Klopp blocked Woodburn from leaving on loan in January as he wanted to keep him as a backup forward option having sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

There is no word on the severity of Woodburn’s injury at this time but having seen him limp off, Gerrard will be sweating on his fitness ahead of the huge clash in Manchester next week.
