# Benitez admits Sterling is on Real’s radar

New Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez has confirmed that Raheem Sterling is a player that the Spanish giants are tracking.

Sterling has been the talk of the town in recent weeks. News first broke that he was going to reject a new contract and then his agent disparaged both Liverpool Football Club and ex-Red Jamie Carragher.

It looks like the young England international wants to leave Anfield, and Benitez is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:

“*We admire Raheem Sterling, that’s no secret. I know Raheem as a player but he is not part of this team so I won’t talk about him.”*

However, by answering this question Benitez has, intentionally or not, whipped up speculation about Sterling moving to the Spanish capital.

He’d join ex-Reds boss Benitez at the Santiago Bernabéu, as well as former Liverpool striker Fernando Morientes, who looks set to join the Real Madrid coaching staff as an assistant.
