# Benjamin Mendy rejects Liverpool for Man City move

Signing a new left-back has been one of Liverpool’s top priorities this summer and if reports are to be believed, they were targeting one of the best in the game today.

Benjamin Mendy has emerged as one of Europe’s finest fullbacks after a stunning debut season with Monaco, helping them capture the Ligue 1 crown and broke into the France national side in the process.

The 22-year-old was a target of Liverpool’s and Jurgen Klopp has held talks with the player regarding a move to Anfield this summer but it appears as if the Reds will not be signing him.

According to L’Equipe (h/t the [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2017/07/01/monacos-benjamin-mendy-agrees-to-join-manchester-city-after-chelseas-late-bid-6748125/)), Mendy has agreed to a move to Manchester City after positive talks with Pep Guardiola, but City will still need to meet his €45m (£39.4m) valuation.

The likes of Andrew Robertson, Faouzi Ghoulam and Ryan Sessegnon have all been linked with moves to Liverpool as well this summer as Klopp looks to offload Alberto Moreno and bring in another left-back.
