# Burnley entitled to £2.3m of Liverpool’s sale of Ings

Liverpool will receive a fee believed to be worth £18m next summer when their sale of Danny Ings to Southampton is confirmed, but Burnley look set to receive £2.3m from the transfer, according to the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tribunal-clause-sees-liverpool-pay-15015351).

The Reds signed Ings back in 2015 after his contract at Turf Moor had expired, following the club’s relegation down to the Championship.

It was a complex deal for Liverpool to recruit Ings, though, in which they were forced to pay a sum of £6.5m to Burnley as part of a compensation package.

This, according to the Echo, also included an agreed clause between the two clubs, which entitles Burnley to a 20% cut of any future sale of Ings.

The 26-year-old joins Southampton on an initial season-long loan before the move is then made permanent, with Ings set to then put pen to paper on a three-year contract at St Mary’s Stadium.

Then, as of July 1 2019, Liverpool will receive a transfer fee for Ings, with a small cut going to Burnley.
