# Can return date still unknown as Liverpool injury crisis draws on

With numerous players currently frequenting the medical quarters at Melwood, Liverpool fans could have used some good news regarding Emre Can, who hasn’t featured since leaving the 5-0 victory against Watford last month with a back injury.

They didn’t get it.

Jürgen Klopp [revealed Monday](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/297145-liverpool-fc-emre-can-injury-update) that the midfielder’s recovery from the ailment is currently not where it needs to be to see a quick return to the pitch for this critical stage of the season.

Klopp said of his fellow countryman’s issue:

> That is not in the best place,

> (He is receiving) treatment and we’re still hoping it will be a little bit quicker than maybe we thought in the first moment. But we cannot say anything else.

The injury list is an extensive one for the Reds at the moment, as Adam Lallana, Joel Matip, and Joe Gomez are all enduring enforced lay-offs.

With a Champions League campaign looking set to go on into the semi-finals, Klopp will be hoping he gets the powerful Can back as soon as possible.
