# Chelsea believe that Liverpool are interested in signing Timo Werner

Officials at Chelsea believe that Liverpool are interested in signing Timo Werner, according to the *[Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/man-utd-chelsea-go-head-21437662?_ga=2.149275007.890554058.1580719389-2111039688.1579460425)*.

It is mentioned that the RB Leipzig striker could be Premier League-bound, whislt the Reds [linked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/01/21/reliable-journalist-tips-werner-to-make-liverpool-move/) with a move for him this summer.

It is claimed that Chelsea believe there could be interest in Werner, who is valued at £67.5 million by *[Transfermarkt,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/timo-werner/profil/spieler/170527)*from the Reds

The 23-year-old has scored [20 goals and registered six assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/130903/Show/Timo-Werner) in the Bundesliga this season, helping Leipzig to [second place](https://www.skysports.com/bundesliga-table) in the table.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Werner would be a fantastic signing by Liverpool, in my opinion, in many ways ticking every box required to be a success under Jurgen Klopp.

A menace in the final third, as [86 goals in 143 appearances](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timo_Werner#Career_statistics) for Leipzig proves, the striker is also hard-working and versatile, capable of thriving centrally or out wide.

The one issue, however, which also applies with the likes of Liverpool-linked pair [Jadon Sancho](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/12/28/liverpools-interest-in-jadon-sancho-confirmed/) and [Kylian Mbappe](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/04/mbappe-urged-to-make-summer-move-to-liverpool/), is that I struggle to see Werner making a move whilst Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all still at the club.

The German is an established top-level player who would likely want to play every week, but how would you fit him into the team alongside the front-three?

Klopp could switch to 4-2-3-1 formation, dropping Firmino deep, but that would be an extremely attacking option.

If Werner is happy to come in and not be a guaranteed starter every week, however, I believe he would be a great signing.
