# Chelsea get ‘green light’ for Liverpool target Erling Haaland

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/26/liverpool-fans-react-as-jurgen-klopp-says-diogo-jota-looks-very-good/) could have fallen behind in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker [Erling Haaland](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/02/24/liverpool-remain-in-erling-haaland-transfer-hunt/), according to a report from reputable German publication [Bild](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bvb-achtung-tuchel-hat-gruenes-licht-fuer-haaland-transfer-75543166,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html).

The [Reds are among](https://www.eurosport.com/football/transfers/2020-2021/which-will-make-erling-haaland-a-100m-superstar_sto8007791/story.shtml) a host of suitors who could be [set to miss out](https://www.90min.com/posts/exclusive-manchester-city-double-swoop-erling-haaland-giovanni-reyna-transfer) as Chelsea’s pursuit of the 20-year-old has taken a major step forward. [Bild](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bvb-achtung-tuchel-hat-gruenes-licht-fuer-haaland-transfer-75543166,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html) claimed that Blues manager Thomas Tuchel, formerly [the man in charge at Dortmund](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas-tuchel/profil/trainer/7471), has been given the ‘green light’ to sign the [Norwegian powerhouse](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/borussia-dortmund/story/4226109/why-dortmund-star-erling-haaland-could-become-the-worlds-best-footballer) in the summer.

Haaland has a [release clause in his contract](https://www.90min.com/in/posts/erling-haaland-s-borussia-dortmund-release-clause-will-be-activated-in-2022-for-75m-01enma39btb6) which starts in 2022, but with his stock rising all the time, a [host of clubs](https://talksport.com/football/779593/manchester-united-pursuing-erling-haaland-borussia-dortmund-2022/) are keen to snap him up sooner rather than later, and Chelsea are willing to supersede the £68m clause.

Losing out to a Premier League rival would be a particularly nasty sting in the tail and, where possible, the Reds must throw their hat into the ring for Haaland.
