# Chelsea set to make first move for Oxlade-Chamberlain

Chelsea are keen to beat Liverpool to the signing of Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, and could be poised to lodge an opening bid.

According to a report from the [Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/831831/Chelsea-News-Manchester-City-Transfer-News-Arsenal-News-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain), the Blues are growing increasingly keen to land the England international this summer as Antonio Conte looks to bolster his squad.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract talks with Arsenal don’t appear to be progressing as well as initially hoped, and this could prompt him to seek a move elsewhere.

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the ex-Southampton man, with Jurgen Klopp consistently touted as an admirer.

However, Chelsea are looking set to give them a good battle for Oxlade-Chamberlain’s signature, and the report claims that a bid could be lodged within the coming days.

Liverpool remain keen on a move for the versatile midfielder, but Manchester City and Chelsea appear to be showing a strong interest now.
