# Chelsea steal the march on Liverpool in race to sign Alisson

Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Roma goalkeeper Alisson with the news Chelsea have held initial talks for a £62 million deal.

[Marca](https://www.marca.com/futbol/real-madrid/2018/06/28/5b33c80f46163f34aa8b4622.html) claims that Chelsea are now in front of both Liverpool and Real Madrid in the race to sign the player who looks set to leave Roma.

The Blues are said to have held initial talks over a possible deal, with the club looking to step up their transfer business once Maurizio Sarri is appointed.

The Brazilian number one has been expected to leave Rome after a standout campaign for Eusebio Di Francesco’s side.

Roma are desperate to keep hold of the player, but with some of Europe’s biggest sides calling this summer, a move appears inevitable.

Chelsea face the prospect of losing Thibaut Courtois this summer, so Alisson would be viewed as a direct replacement.

Liverpool themselves are in the market for a goalkeeper with Jurgen Klopp looking to improve on both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.
