Chris Coleman is hoping to make Danny Ward and Ben Woodburn his first signings as Sunderland manager, according to the [Sunderland Echo](https://www.sunderlandecho.com/sport/football/sunderland-afc/chris-coleman-set-to-make-loan-swoop-for-liverpool-duo-key-january-target-1-8866100).

The former Wales boss has recently been appointed at the Stadium of Light and his targeting a new goalkeeper for when the transfer window re-opens.

After his success at Huddersfield last season Ward was kept involved with the first-team squad this season, with Liverpool rejecting several offers from clubs to take him on loan.

Ward has been unable to break into the first-team and Coleman is hoping to swoop in January.

The goalkeeper is a player that Coleman knows well because of his time in charge of the Welsh national team.

Coleman will also look into the possibility of signing Woodburn, despite Jurgen Klopp having his reservations about loaning the youngster out.

Neither of the two players have seen any Premier League action this season. Ward has featured in the League Cup fixture against Leicester, while Woodburn also came off the bench in a brief cameo appearance at the King Power.
