# City have buy-back option for Liverpool target Jadon Sancho

Manchester City hold a major advantage in the race to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

[Manchester Evening News reports](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/jadon-sancho-transfers-man-city-15256640) that City inserted a buy-back clause when they sold the Liverpool target to Borussia Dortmund back in 2017.

Sancho left City for Germany in a £8 million deal but City were keen to ensure that they put themselves at the front of the queue should they wish to re-sign him in the future.

City will have the first refusal on the player should an official bid be lodged.

A host of Premier League clubs are being linked with a move for Sancho, [with one report](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2018/10/08/liverpool-reportedly-keen-on-jadon-sancho/) claiming he could become a £100 million player.

If Pep Guardiola’s side do not look to pursue a deal to re-sign Sancho, they could still benefit from him moving on.

While they inserted a buy-back option, they also added in a 15 per cent sell-on clause.

City were willing to pay the player £30,000 a week to stay at the club, but he decided to take his career to Dortmund, where he is now impressing in the German top flight.
