# Coutinho not promised he can leave next summer

Liverpool are refusing to promise Philippe Coutinho that he can leave Anfield next summer, as per the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/philippe-coutinho-liverpool-barcelona-assurances-11101267).

The Brazilian was linked with a move to Barcelona throughout the summer but a move did not materialise with the Reds determined not to sell.

According to the report, the player is unhappy about the club’s decision not to sell him this summer.

Barcelona have reportedly held a long standing interest in the player and could rekindle their interest in the player next summer.

After selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the transfer window, the Catalan side turned their attention to Coutinho.

Barcelona had several bids rejected for the player with the highest said to be worth somewhere in the region of £140 million.

Coutinho is currently away with the Brazilian national team after recovering from a back injury that has kept him sidelined in the early stages of the season.
