# Craig Burley: Antoine Griezmann should consider a move to Liverpool

Antoine Griezmann has announced that he will leave Atletico Madrid in the summer and the expectation is that Barcelona will pay his £104million release clause and take him to the Nou Camp.

However, ESPN pundit Craig Burley thinks that the French international should consider making a move to Liverpool, the team who knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League semi-finals earlier this month.

Burley, as cited by the [Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1127327/Antoine-Griezmann-Atletico-Madrid-Barcelona-Liverpool-transfer-news), said:

> I actually think that Liverpool would be a great place for Griezmann to go this summer. Liverpool are very much a team on the up at the moment and he could aid Roberto Firmino who also likes to drop deep. Liverpool area huge club who are fighting for league titles with Manchester City and have reached the last two Champions League finals. I don’t know if they have got enough money to do it but I wouldn’t go to Manchester United, that’s for sure. You talk about how good Griezmann would be linking up with Messi and Barcelona, what about with Liverpool’s front three? You look at that and we talk about Liverpool needing that strength in depth, he would add that and Firmino or Salah some games might sit out.

Griezmann has already turned down a move to England in the past; he rejected the chance to join Manchester United in 2017 and there is no clear indication that he’d be interested in a move to the Premier League at this point of his career.

It seems all but certain that the World Cup winner will be on his way to Barca at some point this summer, but Burley thinks that he could be making a mistake and that he should consider joining Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
