# Dayot Upamecano set to choose between Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich

Liverpool will battle Chelsea and Bayern Munich for the signing of Dayot Upamecano this summer, according to [*Bild*](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/dayot-upamecano-klopp-und-tuchel-in-transfer-schlacht-gegen-bayern-75284304,jsRedirectFrom=conversionToLogin,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html#remId=1683698762039842709) \[via [https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-upamecano-leipzig-transfer-klopp-chelsea-bayern/](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-upamecano-leipzig-transfer-klopp-chelsea-bayern/)*[Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-upamecano-leipzig-transfer-klopp-chelsea-bayern/)*\].

The RB Leipzig centre-back is preparing to face the Reds in the Champions League next week, as the two sides meet in their last-16 first leg clash.

Upamecano has been [linked](https://twitter.com/cfbayern/status/1350022713285496832?s=20) with Liverpool numerous times this season, along with teammate Ibrahima Konate, and he has a release clause of €42.5million.

This update suggests that the 22-year-old is Jurgen Klopp’s ‘dream signing’ this summer, but that Chelsea and Bayern are also considered front-runners.

There is no denying Upamecano’s vast potential as a player, with the Frenchman already such a key man for a big club, at such a young age.

His [88.4 percent](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/327721/Show/Dayot-Upamecano) pass completion rate in the Bundesliga this season suggests he could thrive in Liverpool’s ball-playing style from the back, while 1.2 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game highlight his defensive qualities, too.

With Virgil van Dijk coming back from a serious knee issue, and [Joe Gomez](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/verletzungen/spieler/256178) and [Joel Matip](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joel-matip/verletzungen/spieler/82105) both injury-prone, it is vital that Liverpool snap up an established centre-back with long-term pedigree.
