# Dominic Solanke drafted into England senior squad

Dominic Solanke has been called up to the England senior squad by manager Gareth Southgate, as per a report on the [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41950285).

The Liverpool forward could make his first appearance for the senior squad in Tuesday’s friendly with Brazil at Wembley stadium.

The call comes after a host of the original squad members were forced to withdraw through respective injuries, with boss Southgate wanting to put an empathises on giving the younger players an opportunity and showing that there really is a pathway there.

Solanke was part of the England Under-21 side who beat Ukraine on Friday evening and this allows for Southgate to get a further look at some of the future England players.

This call may come as a surprise for the Liverpool man having played just 85 minutes in the Premier League this season and being well down the pecking order at the club.

Solanke was mightily impressive in the summer at the Under-20 World Cup where he ended up as the top scorer.
