# Fabinho praises Liverpool’s strength in depth

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has insisted that he is not fazed by the competition for places in the Reds’ starting line-up, hailing the squad depth as ‘really good’.

Jurgen Klopp has a vast amount of midfield options at his disposal this season following the arrivals of Fabinho from Monaco and Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer.

Fabinho enjoyed an involved role in Liverpool’s pre-season preparations ahead of the 2018/19 campaign but was denied his first start for the Reds after being set back with illness in the build-up to the fixture.

James Milner operated in the midfield alongside Keita and Georginio Wijnaldum, with Fabinho left as an unused substitute.

However, speaking to Premier League Productions after the match, as cited by the [club’s official website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/311912-fabinho-liverpool-midfield-interview), Fabinho insisted that he has been left impressed by the quality shared among Liverpool’s midfield options, with competition for places as strong as ever.

> When I came to Liverpool I knew this competition would exist in midfield and I think it’s really good for the team. If anything happens to a player, there’s adequate cover. During pre-season I played alongside a variety of different players and we blended really well. So, overall, I think it’s a good thing for the team.

> My midfield partners have given me guidance and assistance, as have the defence. I knew \[my role\] would change and I feel I’ve adapted well. You seek guidance and help from the players around you and that has worked really well up until now.

Following such a rampant display against West Ham, Klopp is sure to have a difficult time in accommodating Fabinho in the starting line-up against Crystal Palace on Monday night.
