# Fabrizio Romano ‘100%’ convinced Liverpool need to sell squad players

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/14/virals-liverpool-target-donyell-malen-very-close-to-borussia-dortmund/) are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer in terms of both incomings and outgoings.

The Reds currently [boast a rather inflated squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/437527-revealed-liverpool-austria-training-camp-plans-pre-season) after the likes of Marko Grujic, Harry Wilson, Taiwo Awoniyi and Loris Karius returned from their respective loan spells. .

Those are just a collection of names that are [expected to find new clubs](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-can-raise-80m-selling-20697081) this summer – perhaps this time on a permanent basis.

It’s widely anticipated Jurgen Klopp will look to bring in [at least one winger](https://www.football365.com/news/transfer-gossip-liverpool-linked-wingers-coman-malen) and central midfield option but that may have to wait.

According to reliable Italian journalist [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano) speaking to [Anfield Watch](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1415038321642729474), the club will be hoping to offload before they can sign.

Romano singled out both Divock Origi and [Xherdan Shaqiri](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/16/xherdan-shaqiri-to-make-decision-on-future-after-euro-2020/) as players that could be sold this summer.

Interest has been [forthcoming](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9666427/Xherdan-Shaqiri-quit-Liverpool-Lazio-Euro-2020-Maurizio-Sarri-takes-over.html) for the Swiss winger from Lazio whilst [reports](https://www.transfermarkt.at/divock-origi-zu-borussia-monchengladbach-/thread/forum/154/thread_id/1053882/page/2#anchor_2670848) claiming Borussia Monchengladbach were keen on Origi [appear](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1415207286130233344) to be wide of the mark.

Selling fringe players has seemingly always [been part of the plan](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-sell-11-players-millions-20264292) in order to recruit accordingly.

Not only is it important in order to bolster the coffers available to Klopp, but also to enhance room inside the Reds’ [squad](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team).
