# Fabrizio Romano claims forwards are the ‘priority’ at Liverpool this summer

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/13/virals-brentford-make-enquiry-for-liverpool-winger-harry-wilson/) are back in pre-season training and have welcomed [Ibrahima Konate](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/08/virals-liverpool-unveil-away-kit-with-ibrahima-konates-squad-number/) to the squad with open arms.

The French central defender is currently the only summer arrival having [signed from RB Leipzig for £36million](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/435628-liverpool-agree-deal-to-sign-ibrahima-konate-from-rb-leipzig) at the start of the transfer window.

Linked with a [host of central midfielders](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/5-midfielders-liverpool-could-sign-to-replace-gini-wijnaldum) to replace Gini Wijnaldum, the Reds are expected to do more business before the start of the season.

Reputable journalist [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano) has given his verdict on his [Twitch](https://www.twitch.tv/fabrizioromano) channel, as cited by [Football Transfers](https://twitter.com/Transferzone00/status/1414659189448712198) on Twitter, as to the positional priorities at Anfield.

Romano also claimed the Reds are looking to sell [Xherdan Shaqiri](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/06/27/virals-liverpool-winger-xherdan-shaqiri-close-to-lazio-switch/) and Divock Origi before suggesting a midfielder would follow an attacking addition.

### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

As the current squad stands, Klopp would not feel comfortable [without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane](https://talksport.com/football/655970/liverpool-mohamed-salah-sadio-mane-africa-cup-of-nations-dates-changed/) for any number of games.

Albeit the [arrival of Diogo Jota](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54214671) last summer strengthened the ranks no end, more is required in order to maintain a charge at major honours next term.

Ideally, a versatile winger, capable of operating on both wings and centrally if required would be the perfect solution to offer Klopp [maximum cover](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) in the department.

Jota himself fills those roles and was an [under the radar arrival](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-diogo-jota-look-far-20387509) – could the club be lining up something similar…
