# Fabrizio Romano claims Serie A club ‘have asked’ about Marko Grujic

[Liverpool](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/14/virals-atletico-madrid-star-saul-niguez-had-half-a-foot-in-liverpool/) midfielder [Marko Grujic](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2021/07/11/virals-liverpool-expected-to-sell-marko-grujic-this-week/) looks to be a target for Serie A club Sassuolo this summer.

The Serbian is [expected to leave Anfield](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/liverpool-transfer-news-reds-looking-to-cash-in-on-marko-grujic-this-summer) on a permanent basis after spending numerous loan spells away from the Reds.

Subject to [major interest](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpools-long-term-marko-grujic-20775408) from FC Porto, the 25-year-old could now be amidst a transfer tug of war.

According to reputable Italian journalist [Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1415418031963054085), Sassuolo have shown their hand in attempting to land the central midfielder as a possible star replacement.

This comes just hours after Romano [suggested](https://twitter.com/AnfieldWatch/status/1415226296389488641) Liverpool could use Grujic as a makeweight in part of a deal elsewhere.

That deal could be for winger Domenico Berardi. The 26-year-old was part of the Italy squad that lifted the Euro 2020 trophy and has been [touted](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-transfers-berardi-florian-neuhaus-20859760) with a Merseyside switch in recent days.

In fact, a fresh report from [Corriere della Sera](https://www.corriere.it/sport/calcio/europei/21_luglio_13/italia-campione-d-europa-quotazioni-azzurri-rialzo-locatelli-barella-piacciono-ad-arsenal-chelsea-a88fbe12-e416-11eb-9ca3-9397dc78a855.shtml?refresh_ce) claims the Reds are ‘fascinated’ with the wideman.

Last season the [17-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/177843) star scored 17 and registered another eight assists in 30 Serie A outings – earning a remarkable [7.43 average Sofascore rating](https://www.sofascore.com/player/domenico-berardi/253367) in the process.

Valued at £13.5million and £31.5million respectively ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/vergleich/spielervergleich/statistik/def/spieler/222813&177843)), Liverpool would be expected to pay a fee alongside any deal involving the pair.

Whilst the Italian ace possess [plenty of quality](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/118542/Show/Domenico-Berardi), positionally there is somewhat of an issue.

Netting [112 goals and adding 68 career assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/domenico-berardi/leistungsdaten/spieler/177843) in 319 appearanes for Sassuolo – the one club man has been rather a one position man also – on the right wing.

Jurgen Klopp already [boasts](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/first-team) Mohamed Salah, Harvey Elliott and Xherdan Shaqiri for the role, although the latter could be on the move.

Whether there is a shift in formation that will see Salah move central or [Elliott used as a number 10](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-elliott/leistungsdaten/spieler/565822) remains to be seen, but as things stand, signing Berardi would simply overload the one position.
