# Fekir could sign new Lyon deal says Aulas

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has hinted that Nabil Fekir could yet sign a new deal to extend his stay at the club.

While speaking to [Le Parisien](https://www.leparisien.fr/sports/football/ligue-1-fekir-diakhaby-mateta-dede-le-point-sur-le-mercato-de-lyon-24-06-2018-7791192.php), Aulas suggested that it is not out of the question for the Frenchman, who has been heavily linked with Liverpool, to stay in France beyond this summer.

> I had an exchange with him the day after we decided to stop the negotiation with Liverpool. He was very serene. I immediately told him that if he wanted to stay, we could extend. I had said before that we did not need to sell. We have the means to keep Fekir.

Aulas has previously [confirmed](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2018/06/22/lyon-chief-admits-he-gave-fekir-the-green-light-to-join-liverpool/) that he had given Liverpool the green light to secure a deal for the playmaker.

Liverpool were thought to be close to signing Fekir from Lyon, only for conflicting reports to emerge regarding the player’s medical history.

The Reds appear to still be interested in a deal, in what looks to be one of the more drawn out moves of the summer.

A £60 million move for Fekir had been discussed with Liverpool looking to sign a replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who left for Barcelona back in January.
