# Former goalkeeper Dida hails “strongest in Europe” Alisson

Former goalkeeper Dida claims Liverpool No. 1 Alisson is “one of the strongest goalkeepers in Europe”.

The World Cup winning Brazil international, who spent ten years playing for AC Milan, believes that the Reds have made a signing that will see them get their value for money, despite spending £65million on the Brazilian.

Having lured the ‘keeper from Roma in the summer, high expectations were placed on the 26-year old’s shoulders, with the player having been made the world’s most expensive shot-stopper for a short time.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was keen to address the goalkeeping issue at Anfield, with neither Simon Mignolet or Loris Karius having been able to firmly establish themselves as the undisputed first-choice.

However, with slip ups proving to be sporadic and few and far between, Alisson has been able to establish himself, which has impressed Dida.

The 45-year old former pro isn’t surprised by Alisson’s performances so far on Merseyside. Talking to the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dida-what-makes-liverpool-no1-15795874) about the goalkeeper, Dida said:

> I could see his qualities from the very beginning.

> He was very agile and quick to read the offensive schemes. It was very clear to me that he would become a top player .

> I did not give him any particular advice, but when you train together I think everyone tries to get something from the other to improve.

> The only advice I gave him is to be always focused and always participate in the game even when the ball is far away. This helps team-mates to be more relaxed and to trust you.

Dida continued, explaining that he was always certain of the goalkeeper’s potential to be great, and that Liverpool have made a wise choice in signing him. He continued, saying:

> Liverpool have conceded only 15 goals in the Premier League – they have the best defence.

> Clearly, it’s thanks to the whole team but certainly Alisson’s personality gives more confidence to defenders and consequently to the whole team.

> Alisson is one of the strongest goalkeepers in Europe. You could already see his huge potential when he was a kid.
