# Former Red Babbel claims Klopp will become legend with title win

Jurgen Klopp will become a Liverpool legend if he delivers the club a Premier League title, according to former club defender Markus Babbel.

The Reds lost their position atop the Premier League table on Wednesday after Manchester City beat Everton 2-0 at Goodison Park, although Liverpool are only behind on goal difference and have a game in hand on the defending champions.

If the Reds can win the title this season it will end a run of 29 years without a league title, and former Reds defender Babbel believes a win for Klopp would see the German coach write his name in folklore alongside some of the greats.

Talking to Omnisport, as quoted by [FourFourTwo](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/babbel-klopp-will-be-a-liverpool-legend-if-he-delivers-title), Babbel said:

> \[It is going to be\] very close.

> Man City have had their problem this season, now Liverpool are facing issues but it is impossible to be at your best the whole year and this happens in football, but I hope Liverpool can do it.

> Klopp is a fantastic coach. He is challenging one of the best teams in the world and if you want to win the title the pressure will always be there, but he is dealing with it well and is in control of everything.

> He \[Klopp\] is in the top five of coaches in Liverpool’s history, because they haven’t won for such a long time, it is frustrating for the supporters and they are dreaming for the title and if he can win the league he will go down as one of the best coaches ever in Liverpool’s history.

Liverpool now face Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday, and will hope to quickly regain their title lead.
