Brendan Rodgers had his pre-Stoke press conference after this session – his first of the new season proper.

He was naturally upbeat and described the upcoming game as the ‘perfect’ fixture.

After the 6-1 at the back end of last season, it’s important the Reds start this campaign well, not only to kick off their top four challenge in style, but also to rid themselves of the nightmare that *was,* at the Britannia last May.

Benteke is expected to play, but Firmino may not be fit enough to start.
