# Gerrard denies interest in Lallana loan

Steven Gerrard has rubbished reports linking him with a loan move for Liverpool’s Adam Lallana.

The Rangers boss played with Adam Lallana during the latter stages of his career at Anfield and has been heavily linked with a loan move for the out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder during the January transfer window.

Speculation surrounding Lallana’s future has been a huge talking point, but [Sky Sports reported](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/11598903/liverpools-adam-lallana-will-not-leave-anfield-on-loan-in-january) at the start of the month that Liverpool would not allow the Englishman to leave the club on loan in January.

Lallana has had lots of fitness problems over the last couple of seasons and now struggles for regular game time at the club but Gerrard says he will not be bringing the Englishman to Scotland, at least not this month.

When asked about the links to Lallana, as well as former West Ham man Ravel Morrison, Gerrard dismissed them saying, “there’s no truth in either”, [as reported by the Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/gerrard-lallana-liverpool-rangers-transfer-15700952).

The news comes after former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson talked up a possible move to join the Scottish club.

Ferguson explained to [PLZ Soccer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOJsGtWS32A):

> I think he’s a top, top player. If Rangers get him, they’ve got an even better chance to snatch the title away from Celtic… But he is a top, top player. If Rangers pull that off, I’ll need to give them a handshake.
