# Gerrard to train with Reds after MLS season

Outgoing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has said that he will return to Merseyside to train with the Reds at the end of the MLS season.

The 34-year-old also confirmed that he has turned down offers from other Premier League clubs to join them on loan.

Gerrard, whose final Anfield appearance resulted in a 3-1 defeat by Crystal Palace on Saturday, has accepted an offer from Brendan Rodgers to shadow the manager, but will not continue his playing career at Liverpool.

***“I have been invited to come back and spend time here and join in with the lads in training which is a fantastic gesture from the club,”*** Gerrard said, as quoted in *The Telegraph*.

***“So I will certainly be around in those winter months and I will be doing some media work as well and enjoy some time off.”***

When asked whether there had been interest from other Premier League clubs regarding a future loan move, he said: ***“They are already trying.”***

Gerrard also dismissed the idea of playing for Liverpool again after next weekend’s trip to Stoke: ***“Once you have said goodbye it will be very difficult to come back and play again,”*** he said.

On his Anfield farewell, Gerrard admitted: ***“It felt very strange. I’ve been dreading this moment. I’m going to miss it so much. I’ve loved every minute. I’m absolutely devastated I’m never going to play in front of these supporters again.”***

He also addressed the idea of potentially taking a seat in the Anfield dugout one day. ***“If I’m in a position that I feel I am good enough and can contribute and help this club and do a good job as a manager and the role is offered to me, I would consider it really, really seriously,”*** he said.

***“If in five or 10 years time I get offered it and I don’t feel I am good enough, and there is a danger of ruining my reputation or showing myself up, I won’t go near it. This is a brutal club to get it wrong at. You see what happened, for example with \[former manager\] Roy Hodgson. He never got enough time, in a short space of time and he was out. You have got to be ready for it. You have to have the right backing.”***

The midfielder also revealed that he had spoken at length with former LA Galaxy player David Beckham about whether he should join the club.
