# Gomez misses Torino clash through minor injury

Joe Gomez has been ruled out of Liverpool’s encounter with Torino this evening as a result of a minor injury.

The young defender was set to line up for the Reds in their final pre-season encounter of the summer, as Jurgen Klopp gears his men up for the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.

Gomez, with Dejan Lovren having enjoyed an extended break after his exploits with Croatia at the World Cup, had been likely to play for Liverpool against Torino but will now be forced to concentrate on regaining his fitness ahead of the Premier League clash with West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

It’s believed that Gomez is absent for the clash against Torino as a result of feeling some muscle tightness in recent days, with Klopp opting to rest the youngster for tonight’s clash at Anfield.

Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip are both also struggling for fitness ahead of the season’s curtain-raiser, meaning that Liverpool will be sweating over Gomez’s fitness for the game.
