# Gomez signs new long-term Liverpool deal

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has agreed a contract extension at Anfield until 2024.

[Paul Joyce of The Times reports](https://twitter.com/_pauljoyce/status/1072067976130646016) that defender has signed a new deal at the club following his good form this season.

Despite his recent injury, the news of a long-term deal will come as a major boost to both Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

A leg fracture during the game away to Burnley looks set to keep him out of the Liverpool side for around six weeks.

Prior to his injury, Gomez had cemented his place in the Liverpool side alongside Virgil van Dijk at the back.

Gomez will now be focusing on his recovery and winning a place back in the Liverpool team when he is fully fit.

The youngster has been one of the surprise packages of the season and the new deal is likely to reflect his new status as a first-team regular.
