# Good news for Liverpool as the FA confirm plans to end the 2019/20 season

The FA have [confirmed](https://www.thefa.com/news/2020/mar/19/joint-fa-efl-premier-league-statement-update-on-professional-football-covid-19-190320) that the 2019/20 Premier League season will be suspended indefinitely, with matches not starting again until at least April 30th.

League games have been postponed for almost two weeks now due to the outbreak of illness, with doubts surrounding the campaign even being completed.

Liverpool have a 25-point lead at the top of the table, as they lie on the cusp of title glory.

The postponement has come at a cruel time for Reds supporters, who haven’t witnessed their team win the league since 1990.

This is a positive update in that respect, however, suggesting that the season will be completed at some point further down the line as the FA have confirmed plans to end the 2019/20 season and have removed the June 30th deadline for the campaign to be completed.

For now, we know that football will be suspended for another six weeks, but  it looks like there is a determination to get the 2019/20 campaign fully completed, whether or not that occurs behind closed doors remains to be seen.
