# Guardiola praises Klopp ahead of Saturday’s clash

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been full of praise for his counterpart Jurgen Klopp ahead of Saturday’s clash.

Liverpool take the relatively short trip to Manchester this weekend as they look to claim a scalp over Guardiola’s City side, but will be well aware that the test that presents itself to them is a difficult one.

Both sides have started in relatively impressive fashion, and are currently level on points. Liverpool have won two of their opening three games, and have drawn one. City have done much the same, but will fancy their chances in front of the Etihad crowd on Saturday.

Guardiola discussed Klopp and his methods with [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11679/11025819/pep-guardiola-talks-sergio-aguero-and-jurgen-klopp-in-a-sky-sports-exclusive?utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral) recently, and waxed lyrical about the Reds boss’ style of play.

> He was born in Germany. He was a little boy in Germany and started to play football in Germany. I was a little boy in Catalonia and I was born into a different mentality and way of playing. That’s why it’s nice football.

> English managers play that way, German managers play that way and the Spanish managers play in that way, like the Italian managers. We grew up with something cultural and that is what we believe.

Both managers will be vying for more success after somewhat underwhelming campaigns last term in the Premier League, and it’s sure to be an interesting encounter in the early kick-off on Saturday afternoon.

> He plays that way and he is better if he wins and I am better if we win. It’s simple like that for the media or the people.

> They play in an attractive way. It is spectacular when it works because everything is quick and they make transitions like in Germany and in three or four seconds they are on the attack.
