# Guillem Balague rubbishes reports linking Liverpool with Dembele swoop

Earlier this week, a report from [Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/klopp-quiere-dembele-liverpool-7909451) claimed that Liverpool were interested in making a move for Ousmane Dembele and that the Reds were considering paying the £81 million asking price that Barcelona have put on the Frenchman.

However, speaking on his own personal [YouTube channel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PFprxvfKa4&t=924s), respected Spanish journalist Guillem Balague has rubbished those claims, saying that Dembele’s injury problems are the main reason why the Reds will not be making a move for the Barca star.

He said:

> People are suggesting in the media that Dembele is wanted by Liverpool, but I don’t think so. They are very aware of his injuries and it’s a risk to take for Liverpool even though, of course, Klopp would like that kind of player.

When healthy, Dembele has shown glimpses of his talent, the talent which saw Barcelona spend an [initial €105m](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41044659) to sign him from Borussia Dortmund.

However, he’s suffered a few hamstring injuries already this season, one in the [opening game of the season](https://www.lesportiudecatalunya.cat/barca/article/1652741-dembele-es-torna-a-trencar-i-sera-baixa-cinc-setmanes.html), and another in [February](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51467123) and that is likely to pit Liverpool off pursuing a move.

Like Balague says, it would not be a shock to see Liverpool looking to sign another forward at the end of the season but Dembele’s injury history looks like he is off the table and that is a decision I agree with as spending £81 million on a player with such a patchy injury record seems to be too big of a risk.
