# Hazard hails Van Dijk as ‘one of the best’

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has singled out Virgil van Dijk as “one of the best” defenders in world football.

In an exclusive interview with the [SPORTbible](https://www.sportbible.com/football/news-exclusives-sportbible-speaks-to-eden-hazard-the-premier-leagues-main-man-20181004?c=1538660177876), the Belgian international was quizzed on the toughest opponents he has come up against in recent years.

Hazard was quick to highlight the quality of his compatriot and Manchester City star Vincent Kompany, before alluding to just how difficult it is to play against Liverpool star Van Dijk.

> He’s more of a central defender but Kompany is at the top and one of the best in the world. He got a lot of injuries but this guy is a top player.

> Virgil van Dijk since last year is one of the best in the world for sure. To play against him last Saturday, I can tell he is one of the best and he’s still young also.

Chelsea star Hazard is leading the way as the Premier League’s top goalscorer at this early stage of the season as he continues to thrive under Maurizio Sarri’s management.

Hazard has already caused Liverpool some problems this season, too. The winger netted a decisive strike in Chelsea’s 2-1 win against the Reds in the Carabao Cup before scoring his side’s only goal in the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

Van Dijk, on the other hand, has enjoyed a strong start to the Premier League season and has aided Liverpool in their unbeaten run in the top-flight.
