# Henderson drops out of England squad following ankle injury

Jordan Henderson has withdrawn from the England squad amid concerns over an ankle injury.[https://talksport.com/football/513130/england-euro-2020-qualifiers-southampton-james-ward-prowse-liverpool-jordan-henderson/](https://talksport.com/football/513130/england-euro-2020-qualifiers-southampton-james-ward-prowse-liverpool-jordan-henderson/)

[TalkSPORT report](https://talksport.com/football/513130/england-euro-2020-qualifiers-southampton-james-ward-prowse-liverpool-jordan-henderson/) that the Liverpool midfielder will no longer be involved for the games against the Czech Republic and Montenegro.

Gareth Southgate has brought Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse into the fold following Henderson’s injury.

Ward-Prowse was a player that many felt had been hard done by to miss out on the squad in the first place after an inspired run of form for the Saints in recent weeks.

Jurgen Klopp had [previously admitted](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/03/17/klopp-delivers-update-on-hendersons-condition/) that Henderson would still travel with the England squad, despite picking up an injury during the week, but that is no longer the case.

Henderson was forced to sit out of Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday, a victory that sees them return to the top of the Premier League table, sitting just two points above Manchester City in second.
