# Hertha Berlin leading race for Liverpool’s Marko Grujic

Hertha Berlin are leading the race to sign Reds midfielder Marko Grujic, as per a report from [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/hertha-berlin-20m-liverpool-midfielder-grujic/1ptth5um4sur31wr09xblbmx70).

Valued at £20 million, Grujic has also drawn serious interest from Borussia Monchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt, with Serie A’s Atalanta also enquiring about the central midfielder.

Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have also been loosely linked with wanting to give Grujic his first real chance in the Premier League.

The Serbian international was Jurgen Klopp’s first Liverpool signing back in 2016, coming over from Serbian side Red Star Belgrade, but he’s played on just 14 occasions for the first team and hasn’t featured since December of 2017.

Grujic had loan spells with Red Star Belgrade and Cardiff City, but was able to find good success most recently after being loaned to Hertha Berlin for the past two seasons, where he scored nine goals and registered three assists in 54 matches.

If the deal is sealed soon, Grujic will have a little under a month to prepare himself for Hertha’s Bundesliga opener against Werder Bremen. Liverpool are looking to offload Grujic for good with a permanent move to Berlin seemingly on the cards.

A move to Hertha Berlin seems to be the best move that Grujic could make at the moment after stapling himself into their squad over the past two seasons. After Hertha Berlin brought in Bruno Labbadia as their new manager, Grujic started the final nine matches and scored one goal and Labbadia seems to be keen on the 24-year-old’s talent.

It is clear that Grujic won’t be getting into the Premier League champions team anytime soon, and with a good reputation in Germany, this seems to be a near-perfect fit.
